Sir AtruisWe are decorating our dining roon in a medieval theme. We are seeking a funiture manufacture (s) that could supply us with thrones or chairs with these features any ideas? In addition full armour display pieces are a must as well. I have seen a suit made of plastic that was semi historically accurate can any one help? Any good sites for decorating ideas in general?
Erik SchmidtWhat period are you aiming for?
There are a lot of period suppliers out there, so if you have the money you can go all out.
You could ask on the forums here; http://www.armourarchive.org/
They can give you advice on the best armourers in your area. I wouldn't mention plastic if I were you, nor would I consider investing in it as it can't look like the real thing.
Full suits vary in quality, from thin, rapidly made display pieces, to custom built suits which can be used in combat recreation.
There are lists of armourers here; http://therionarms.com/resources.html
and here; http://www.armor.com/2000/links.html
and here; http://www.milieux.com/costume/source.html

Can't seem to find anything listing suppliers of furniture. Maybe someone else will be able to help.

Erik

VenusI have recently been surfing the net for the same thing, and found a marvelous supplier of weaponry and armor at: http://www.by-the-sword.com

As for furniture, you are just going to have to get a good idea of what you'd like, then start shopping on ebay and antique furniture shops and estate auctions. I work for a hotel, and usually one in your area will have several auctions a month held there.

I plan on building a fantasy medieval castle. I will soon have a website up for the planning phase at least, but for now you can go to the links section of my website: http://www.virtue.nu/venusdesigns

Good luck!
